Summer 2022 is here and we’re loving the trends that have been gracing the Pinterest homes this year! In past years, we’ve seen a lot of gray and cooler tones, but we’re fully embracing the warmer, more colorful hues this time around and the results are stunning. Don’t get us wrong – decorating for the summer months can be a challenge. 

Fall calls for shades of orange and brown, many people use red, green, and holiday decor during the winter months, and spring is the perfect time for light pastels. But summer is a little different – there are so many ways you can decorate for the warmer months, and as long as you love what’s in your home, you really can’t go wrong. 

If you’re looking for a place to start, here are a few color schemes you can pick from to get that perfect summery look in your home. 

Sunrise and Sunset 

Shades of pink, yellow, orange, and purple are having a major moment right now when it comes to home decor. These warm tones offer a sense of comfort to homeowners who enjoy them, and they can be used in any room in the house (including your outdoor living spaces). So, what are some ways you can incorporate sunrise and sunset colors into your home? 

It really depends on how committed you are to the color scheme. You can go as bold as painting a wall in your home, or you can go as subtle as adding some warm pieces to your open shelving. You can incorporate floral arrangements, furniture, lamps, wall art, throw pillows, and more. 

Subtle Patriotic Tones 

Summer is the time to celebrate the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Pioneer Day (if you live in Utah), so why not keep the patriotic vibes going all summer long? Many people worry about decorating for these holidays because it can end up looking tacky, but there are subtle, classy ways to make it work beautifully. 

For example, you can add red and blue throw pillows to your couch, floral arrangements in shades of red, prints from Etsy or digital creators, fun front porch decor, etc. If you’re looking for examples of classy ways to do patriotic decor, Pinterest has millions of ideas to choose from. Make it your own and have fun with it! 

Shades of Blue 

According to many different sources, blue is the color of summer 2022. Adding blue into your home decor is a great way to add color while keeping your palette neutral since it can be so versatile. We’ve seen a lot of deep blue and light blue colors trending this year, and we don’t see that going away anytime soon. 

If you want to incorporate some blue into your decor, add blue vases, accent furniture, pillows, wall art, or paint if you’re feeling extra bold. 

Warm and Sunny 

Summer is warm and sunny, so why not add warm and sunny decor to your home for the season? This makes your home feel more welcoming for guests and more cozy for your family. We totally understand that everyone isn’t a fan of yellow, but any shade of yellow or orange would work to get this warm feeling in your home. 

For example, you could put out a bowl of lemons, oranges, and other citrus fruits for you and your kids to enjoy. Or you could place yellow floral arrangements throughout your spaces to brighten things up! There’s no wrong way to go about this. 

Shades of Green 

Just like blue, green is having a major moment right now. Green is a calming, grounding color people love to use in their homes, and summer is the perfect time to take advantage of it. There are so many different shades of green you can choose from, but the deep, earthy green tones are some of our favorites. 

This might seem obvious, but the best way to add green to your home is to get plants and greenery for your indoor and outdoor spaces. You’ll want to research what grows well in your climate and what works best for indoor and outdoor, but there are so many great options to choose from. Bold Patterns 

This technically isn’t a color scheme, but it is definitely trending so we thought it would be worth mentioning. We’re loving all the bold patterns we’ve been seeing, and most are colorful so you can have a lot of fun with them. 

We’ve seen a lot of wall murals, furniture, and wallpaper capturing this trend, but if you’re looking for something less permanent, you can go with peel-and-stick wallpaper, wall art, or accent pieces like throw pillows. 

Natural, Beachy Beige 

The natural, beige, beachy look has been trending for the past couple of years, but in Summer 2022, it’s going stronger than ever. People love having a home that makes them feel like they’re always on vacation, which is exactly what this color palette does. If your home already has a neutral base, this look is easy to achieve. 

You’ll want to incorporate woven materials, warm linen curtains, boho style accessories, and neutral furnishings to get this light, beachy look in your home.
