5 Smart Tech Pieces to Include in your New Home

If you’re currently building a new custom home, you have a unique and exciting opportunity to integrate modern technology in your plans. There are endless possibilities when it comes to smart home technology, and taking the time to research what’s important to you when it comes to technology in your home can give you the home of your dreams.

Built-in smart home technology can provide fun and entertainment, make life more convenient, and even make your home more safe. Here are a few things you should consider including in your new custom home.

1. Sound system

Having a sound system integrated in every room in your home is great – especially if you enjoy listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts throughout your day. For example, SONOS is a great option for something like this. You can install an iPad in the wall as the main control center, but as long as any smartphone is connected to the home’s wifi and has the SONOS app, it can play music in any room, at any volume, at any time. It’s perfect for at-home workouts, cleaning days, and getting ready every morning.

2. Smart lighting

Smart lighting is an awesome touch to consider adding to your home. Motion sensors make the lights turn on when you walk in a room, and if the sensors don’t detect movement for a set period of time, the lights will automatically turn off. It ultimately saves energy and is extremely convenient. Smart lighting systems also often come with the option to dim, brighten, or change the hue of the lighting. You’ll also want to make sure your lighting system includes vacation mode. When you turn this on before heading out on a trip, it will turn different lights in the house on and off for certain periods of time – making it look like you’re actually home.

3. Security system

You’ll want to feel safe in your new home at all times, and having a security system can help immensely with that. When building your home, including the wiring for security cameras from the beginning will save time and money in the long run. You’ll also get to choose exactly where to place the security cameras so you can feel safe no matter where you are in your home. And when you’re away on vacation, it gives you peace of mind knowing that your home and everything in it is being protected.

4. Automatic shades

Having automatic shades in your home is stylish, convenient, and allows you to control the amount of natural sunlight that comes into your home. The automatic shades also give you the convenience of closing them using a remote or an app on your phone, and if you have a lot of windows, this can save a lot of time.

With technology being so integrated in everyday life, it would make sense to include it in the walls of your home. Taking advantage of smart home technology can increase convenience and comfort, add a higher level of security, and ultimately give your home a unique touch.
